What do the rattle chambers inside a vibration bait actually do?
They are the bait's sound, and the design is a choice rather than a default. Rapala's article on its Clackin' range sets out the working theory: multiple small ball bearings in separate chambers imitate a volume of forage such as a school of shiners or shad, while one larger metal-to-metal chamber gives a single deeper clack, which the article links to one big baitfish or a crawfish and to big fish.

In detail
Rapala builds the Clackin' Rap with an external metal-to-metal chamber. On an order, chamber type, chamber material and ball count are three separate fields.
The numbers behind this answer
| Construction | What the published description says | What to lock in writing |
|---|---|---|
| Hollow plastic vibration bait | A vibe lure is described as looking like a lipless crankbait with the line tie on top and treble hooks front and back (Sport Fishing Mag); Rapala sells the Rippin' Rap as a lipless, tall body profile with a loud BB rattle system (Rapala) | Body length, body weight, chamber type and the two hook sizes, front and rear |
| Construction | What the published description says | What to lock in writing |
|---|---|---|
| Metal blade bait | The style is described as covering metal blade baits as well, worked by vibrating on the fall and on the retrieve (Sport Fishing Mag); our sampled listings include a zinc alloy vibration bait priced from US$0.24 per piece at MOQ 500 (our sampled listings) | Alloy and plating, plus whether the harness is wire-through or moulded into the body |
