Applying, and what it costs

Direct answer

A published record is a set of checkable claims about your factory, written in a form buyers can compare. Applying is a documentation exercise rather than a sales pitch.

Key facts

  1. A published record is a set of checkable claims about your factory, written in a form buyers can compare with the next one.
  2. Verification runs per factory rather than per product, so a record is not re-charged when you add a product family.
  3. Four things, and a factory that arrives with all four clears the gates in about a working week.
  4. Your registered name and unified social credit code , exactly as they appear on the licence.
  5. Evidence that tackle is your main business rather than a side line.

A published record is a set of checkable claims about your factory, written in a form buyers can compare with the next one. Applying is a documentation exercise rather than a sales pitch, which is also why it takes less time than most factories expect.

Verification runs per factory rather than per product, so a record is not re-charged when you add a product family. The cost is our time, and the factory's cost is the hour on the interview call — which is the gate that cannot be assembled from documents.

What to prepare before applying

Four things, and a factory that arrives with all four clears the gates in about a working week.

Your registered name and unified social credit code, exactly as they appear on the licence. A near-match is not a match: if the name you trade under differs from the registered entity, say so up front rather than letting gate 1 discover it.

Evidence that tackle is your main business rather than a side line. Product lines on your own pages, a catalogue, and any certifications you hold — especially any that name the legal entity rather than a brand.

Your numbers in writing. Monthly capacity in units, MOQ per colourway or size, lead time for a repeat order and for a first order on new tooling, and your price basis. These are the figures the record publishes, and a factory that cannot state them does not have numbers a buyer can plan a launch around.

A sample you can stand behind. Not a showroom piece — a unit from the production line. The approved sample becomes the standard your later shipments are inspected against, so a hand-finished sample creates a gap that will be found at inspection.

What a published record shows

A published record carries the same quantities for every factory, because a record that omits them cannot be compared with the next one. Monthly capacity in units. MOQ stated per colourway or size rather than as a single headline figure. Lead time twice, repeat order and new tooling. The price basis named, FOB port or EXW factory. The reference price band for the category with its unit. And the date of the last check.

What reference bands look like when published, and what they are not.
PublishedNot published
A range per sub-category, with the unit statedA binding price, or a price for a specification we have not seen
The order quantity that range applies toYour customer list, your cost structure, or your margin
The price basis, FOB port or EXW factoryContact details for anyone but the entity you nominate
The date the record was last checkedA ranking position, because there is no ranking to buy

Applying

The application asks for the four things above and nothing else. Enquiries from buyers come to us and are matched to factories whose published record fits the requirement; where we place and manage an order, that is how the work is paid for rather than a listing fee.

If the record fails a gate, we tell you which one and why. A failure is recorded internally with its reason rather than published, and a factory that fixes the stated problem is read as a new application rather than as a repeat of the old one.

Questions factories ask before applying

Does listing cost anything? No, and there is no paid ranking either. A directory that orders its results by who paid is a directory whose ordering carries no information for the buyer, which is the opposite of what this one is for.

Will you publish my prices to everyone? The record publishes a reference band for the sub-category, not your quotation. A specific price against a buyer's specification is attached to that enquiry, and the full range opens only to an approved trade account — the fields are listed on the trade account page.

Do you ask for exclusivity? No. A published record is evidence about your company, not a tie on your capacity, and you can quote other buyers on your own terms.

What if I fail verification? You are told which gate failed and what would change the outcome. The record stays internal with its reason, and it can be re-run once the stated problem is fixed. What does not happen is a record published as "pending" — absence is the honest state for a factory that has not passed, and it protects you as much as the buyer.

What should a factory prepare before applying?

  1. Business registration details exactly as registered, including the full legal name.
  2. Evidence that fishing tackle is the main business, not a side line.
  3. Customs export records covering at least one destination market.
  4. Current capacity, MOQ and lead time per specification, stated as numbers.
  5. The price basis you quote on —FOB with the named port, or EXW factory.

What do published reference bands look like?

Applicants are published next to these bands, so the figures you quote are comparable with the ones already in the directory.

Reference price bands by sub-category, aggregated from 62 sampled listings. Basis must be confirmed per quotation (FOB port or EXW factory).
